How to verify Singapore passport to use Malaysian e-gate

I have been delayed at the Johor immigration for over an hour on two occasions recently. The manual counters were processing the travelers slowly, due to the slow speed of the fingerprint verification.

The delay occurred in the morning when there was a large crowd of travelers.

If I had verified my passport to use the e-gate, I would have bypassed the long queue and clear through immigration quickly.

I have now verified my passport to be used at the e-gate. The process is as follows:

a) I have to submit an online MDAC (Malaysian Digital Arrival Card).
b) On the first visit, I have to go to the manual counter to verify my passport on arrival and also for department.
c) On subsequent visits, I still have to submit an online MDAC, but I can use the e-gate (for arrival and department), instead of the manual counter.

The process of passing through the e-gate is similar to that used in Singapore. The traveler insert the passport for scanning and looks at the camera for face recognition. The gate opens for the visitor to pass through.

Here is the link to submit the online MDAC.

The traveler can submit the MDAC within 3 days of travel. It can be submitted on the day itself or even just before passing the e-gate.

An alternative to avoid the crowd is to visit Johor in the afternoon on a weekday. There is no queue at the manual counter.
